Bro. Charles’ profession is in the field of shipping. His service record includes twenty-two years with the China Merchants Steam Navigation Company. His present position is that of shipping and purchasing agent for the Allied Transportation Company, Taipei, Taiwan.

Bro. Charles is also an accomplished gemologist, having been awarded the Degree of Graduate Gemologist by the Gemological Institution of America.

He knocked on the door of Amity Lodge No.1 in 1967, and has served as Master of that lodge as well as the first reigning Master of Han Lodge No. 8, which is the first lodge in this jurisdiction to use the official Chinese language in all its functions. His contribution to the translation of the English Ritual into Chinese largely expedited the completion of our Monitor in Chinese.

In 1977, Bro. Charles was elected an Honorary Inspector General of the Supreme Council 33° of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry on the Southern Jurisdiction of the U.S.A. In that same year he was elected to the Chair in the Grand East of this Jurisdiction.
